Slam the Pan Chocolate Chip Cookies

My sister and I have been making various chocolate chip cookie recipes for years.  This is one that she verbally passed to me one day, and I have been making ever since.  My recipe might be a little different from the one she originally gave me, because for some reason my cookies look a little "different" than hers. They look good and taste good, that's all that matters.  These cookies are crunchy on the outside and gooey in the middle.  They are best when consumed HOT.

Ingredients:
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/2cups flour
1 cup unsalted butter
1 egg
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
3 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with a Silpat or parchment paper.
Sift together the salt, baking soda and flour in one bowl and set aside.  In a mixing bowl with a paddle attachment mix together the butter, egg. vanilla, and sugars. Once smooth, gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet.  Scrape the bowl with a spatula to make sure everything gets combined. When dough is combined, add the chocolate chips and mix until the chocolate chips are evenly distributed in the dough.
Use a cookie scoop the make uniform cookies.  Evenly space them on the lined baking sheet.  Bake e cookies for 12 minutes. When you pull the cookies from the oven, slam the cookie sheet down on the counter.  The cookies will spread out a little. Let the cookies cool for 2 minutes before transferring them from the baking sheet to a rack.
